ISRI kicked off the creation of a National Roadmap for a Safe, Circular Electrified Economy with an action summit in November 2023. Select speakers from the summit will share their key insights and takeaways from the event, and ISRI staff will share next steps.

You will:

Kristen Hildreth, AVP Sustainability for ISRI

Hesham Ghoneim, SIMS Metal

Hesham Ghoneim is a director and leads Sims’ Mobility Solutions division where he focuses on circularity and reintegration of post-consumer material and components back into the automotive supply chain, working across Sims’ business lines. He has extensive experience in semiconductor design and fabrication, including technology transfer and commercialization of logic and memory components. He started his career at IBM Research in semiconductor research and development and has worked with leading technology companies across various industries on business strategy, operational improvement and supply chain initiatives. He is part of the Open Compute Project where he focuses on circular economies of high-performance computing and data center infrastructure. Ghoneim obtained a PhD and Masters in nanoelectronics, thysics and chemistry from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.

Chelsey Schneider, Energy Security Agency

Chelsey Scheider is the assistant director of training and education for the Energy Security Agency (ESA). ESA is an international leader in fire-based research, testing, training and consulting related to energy storage. Along with her role in the ESA, she is a full-time firefighter for Worthington, Ohio. Schneider is a certified rescue instructor, technical rescue specialist, fire instructor II, firefighter II and EMT-P. She is also a member of the Rescue Methods team, an international technical rescue trainer, and a participant in global rescue competitions and consortiums.

Josephita Harry, Pan American Zinc

Josephita Harry, is the vice-president, sales in the Non-Ferrous division at Pan American Zinc, located in Miami, Florida. Harry graduated from the University of Madras with a Bachelor of engineering in electronics and instrumentation. She has over two decades of experience in international business with 10 years in the metal recycling industry. Harry’s passion for recycling began with a school project in 1995 called “Clean Up India” with a focus on recycling/waste management that led her to participate and win at the national level as a young child scientist. Today, Harry oversees all non-ferrous trading for Pan American Zinc. She is currently serving as vice-chair of ISRI’s Trade Committee, co-chair of the ISRI’s Women in Recycling’s (WIR), and council and direct-at-large in ISRI’s South-east chapter. Additionally, she also serves as the chairwoman of the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) ’s Electrics, Electronics and EV Batteries Committee.

Dan Bowerson, Auto Innovators

Dan Bowerson has been with Auto Innovators since its inception and was previously with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, which he joined in 2018. Based in the Auto Innovators Michigan office, Bowerson covers fuels and vehicle electrification topics, including fuel quality, low carbon fuels, electric vehicle (EV) battery lifecycle, and electric vehicle charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure. Prior to joining the Alliance of Automobile Manufactures, he worked at all levels of the automotive industry from a supplier (Roush Industries) to an original equipment manufacturer (FCA) to a trade association (NGVAmerica). He holds an M.S. in engineering management from University of Michigan-Dearborn and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Western Michigan University.

Shane Thompson, Cirba Solutions

Shane Thompson has an impressive 23-year career in battery life cycle management. This experience includes leadership in environmental sales, commercial operations and process development. He currently serves as EVP of Cirba Solutions focused on strategy and business development. With a passion to make a positive impact on environmental initiatives, he has used his knowledge to help drive U.S. policy and regulations related to battery recycling and has been a trusted consultant regarding recycling various energy metals and minerals. Thompson is committed to creating innovative opportunities for a circular battery supply chain and second life applications. His combined experience and knowledge make him one of the world’s most qualified experts in a rapidly evolving industry.
